Sometimes the only thing stopping a person from getting treatment is underwear and/or personal care items!’

ARCHway Institute for Addictive Disease and Co-Existing Mental Health Disorders based out of Punta Gorda is announcing their February Underwear Drive to educate the community about barriers to recovery and to help individuals start a journey of recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction.

Please stop by our office and drop off new underwear or personal care items. We are located at office 2886 Tamiami Trail #10, Port Charlotte FL

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE UNDERWEAR DRIVE

This Underwear Drive was inspired by a young woman who was being released from jail to a residential treatment program. The one thing that prevented her from making this smooth transition and continuing her recovery journey… UNDERWEAR. Yes, you heard that right! This young woman didn’t have any underwear of her own and neither the jail or residential treatment program had any to provide her.

Although it is an everyday need, underwear is one item that is rarely collected in clothing drives. Archway is working to change that.

DON’T FORGET YOUR UNDERWEAR! Individuals often walk through the doors of a residential treatment program, recovery house, or recovery community center with nothing. No coat. No shoes. No personal care items. Not even a pair of underwear. Throughout the month of February, ARCHway Institute will be collecting NEW underwear to donate to local recovery organizations.
